Stellar™ Competent Cells
높은 형질전환 효율을 가진 E. coli competent cell로, 외래의 메틸화 된 DNA를 분해하는 유전자 (mrr, hsdRMS, mcrBC, mcrA)가 결손되어 있다. 이 세포는 길이가 긴 cDNA library와 genomic library 제작, subcloning, 메틸화 된 DNA의 cloning 등 다양한 실험에 사용될 수 있다. 또한, LacZ alpha 유전자를 포함한 vector로 형질전환 시 blue/white screening에 사용할 수 있다. 이 제품은 In-Fusion^® Snap Assembly Master Mix (Code 638947)와 함께 사용하면 최고의 cloning 효율을 보인다.

Stellar™ Competent Cells (dam-/dcm-)
DNA의 메틸화에 필요한 유전자 (dam, dcm)가 결손 된 E. coli competent cell이다. 여기서 생산된 plasmid는 dam 또는 dcm 메틸화로 적용이 어려웠던 제한효소를 사용할 수 있다. dam 유전자와 recA가 같이 결손 되는 경우 세포가 사멸되기 때문에 이 세포는 recA 유전자를 발현하고 있다. 이때문에 cloning에서 host cell로 사용할 경우 반복 서열을 가지는 외래의 DNA가 recA 유전자에 의해 변이가 일어날 수 있다. 따라서 위에서 언급된 plasmid 제작에만 사용하는 것을 추천한다.
